Ian has represented the Knoco Knowledge Management consultancy in Southern Africa since 2004. Ian was responsible for the design and implementation of a KM strategy in De Beers which delivered R500m in audited value over the first 2 years of implementation. He has worked globally for a range of private and public sector clients conducting KM Assessments and developing KM Strategies. Ian has a Diploma in Advanced Management from Oxford University and lectures regularly in the Faculty of Applied Management at the University of Cape Town. He has published articles on the application of Knowledge Management to deliver value as well as creative solutions to difficult problems. Ian is chairman of the Starting Chance Trust which builds early childhood centres and develops principals and teachers in the townships within the Cape Town metropolitan area. He is currently developing a knowledge asset aimed at contributing to making access to quality early learning programmes a reality for children living in poverty. Ian holds a PhD in Geology and served De Beers in a variety of technical, line management and senior management roles for 21 years.
